Once again Sarah was invited to be a 2013 Australia Day Ambassador and this year addressed citizenship awards ceremonies in Captain’s Flat and Braidwood, as well as attending as a guest in Bungendore, all towns in the Southern Tablelands of NSW. Sarah’s address focused on the importance of family and how vital it is for us all to stay in touch with those we love. So many of The Footpath Library customers end up on the street as a result of a fracture in their family environment which leads to them having no one to turn to and no place to call home.
These occasions are a great opportunity to connect with regional communities, have some fun and talk to them about books! The locals were kind, welcoming and totally enthusiastic about Australia Day, as these pictures show!
