The Footpath Library gathers new books from publishers and excellent quality secondhand books from the general public and distributes them to homeless people living on the street, in homeless hostels and refuges or through community organisations.
Bookcases are purchased with donations and installed as giving libraries – the books are replenished as needed, usually once a month and supplied according to the reading desires of our clients.
Our fantastic volunteers pack the books in our warehouses with care and consideration, ensuring our high standards of physical and content quality are met. We have great respect for our clients and only provide books we would be happy to give to a friend or relative.
Books help keep people healthy and happy and truly are food for the mind and soul!
