At 6am on Sunday 16th September, The Footpath Library team of 15 very fit and very experienced cyclists set off on a 150km fundraising ride, as part of the 2012 Paradice Investment Goulburn to Sydney Cycle Classic. Our team consisted of Footpath Library Board member and organiser Bruce Murphy (Bank NY Mellon), Footpath Library volunteer Andrew Bennett, Elliot Ashton (Access Testing), Dave Berry (V-Mark Design), Rodney Sebire, Jaxon Rudduck and Jordan Thurlow (all from Man Investments), Mac Dinsmore (Wellington), Jo Farah (Civil and Rigging), Keith Gray (Macquarie), Craig Hobart, Ben McCully (CPA), Noel Whyte (NAB), Hugh O’Neill (Shead Property) and Ian Wilkins (SBS). Unfortunately Nick Gaeta had to withdraw prior to the race due to a bike accident a couple of weeks ago. With only three 5 minute breaks in 4.5 hours the guys cramped, sweated and hurt, all in the name of The Footpath Library. And they’ve said they will come back next year! Thanks so much to all of you individually and to those employers who are matching funds raised by their staff. And to Bank NY Mellon for donating the very smart kits the guys are wearing in this shot. A brilliant effort that looks like contributing more than $15,000 towards our first paid staff member.
