Since we have paused all mobile library programs in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth we are now installing little libraries so that our friends on the street can still get food for the mind and soul.
The Footpath Library is taking books to the streets via little libraries that will ensure our street friends are able to find solace in a book. Big thanks to Peter FitzSimons, our patron, for funding this project, Street Library Australia for getting us the boxes at cost, Gleebooks Dulwich Hill and Nicole Abadee for supplying new books, the wonderful children and adults who handwrote the kindness cards that go in the books, Shane McLachlan and Max McLachlan for painting and stencilling the boxes, Board member Nico de Loux for help with installations in Sydney and Max McLachlan for making this clip for us. We will continue to stock these libraries as long as we are free to do so. Perth will have two libraries next week. And anyone who needs a book for comfort right now, is welcome to take one! (They have been Dettol wiped once, on installation).
