Dashing Print has been assisting The Footpath Library for the last five years, providing free printing of all The Footpath Library marketing materials. Russell Kavnat took some time out from his busy role as both Managing Director and Sales Director to share his views on how providing books to the homeless community has the power to inspire and motivate people.
What are you most passionate about your role with Dashing Print?
As both Managing Director and Sales Director, my role is both strategic and acutely involved in the day-to-day of the business. My clients are why I am so passionate about what we do here at Dashing Print, and it is important to me to stay true to how we started, with great client relationships.
We work hard to make them look their very best, it goes beyond print, it is about helping them to connect with their audience, and providing the best possible medium for them to do this.
Why do you think it’s important that corporate sector partner with the community sector?
I think it’s important to find ways to work together wherever possible. We had the opportunity to support The Footpath Library, and Dashing are fortuitous enough to be able to gift them with the tools to help others.
Have you learnt anything new about the homelessness sector since working with The Footpath Library?
It has been nice to hear that there is a strong desire to read in the homeless community, and the gratitude with which the books are received.
Why do you think providing books to homeless people matters?
I think with anyone, it’s important to read to keep your mind active, and to learn. Reading has the power to inspire and motivate people, and hopefully provide solace in what I imagine must be a lonely and difficult situation.
Do you have a favourite genre of books/author, if so why?
I love to learn, and discover new concepts, innovations that haven’t entered into my radar. Autobiographies of brilliant business people, books about business innovation, and the people behind that. I do also love crime thrillers; Daniel Silver is a favourite Author.
What are you reading at the moment?
Ayne Rand – Fountain Head.
