We were absolutely thrilled to unveil the brand new library van for our Sydney CBD last night.
Many thanks to Bill Buckle VW, Mark Mahony, StreetSmart, Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts and The Anglican Parish of St. Alban’s for enabling us to make this purchase.
“We are so excited and grateful to the wonderful donors who made this happen. The van service in the CBD is where it all started 10 years ago when we first discovered the need for books for people sleeping rough. We now have libraries installed in hostels as well but the van remains our flagship and why we are called The Footpath Library” said Founder and Managing Director, Sarah Garnett.
“Every year we give out thousands of books from our mobile service to our homeless clients in the CBD, over a cuppa and a biscuit. The van and the books also provide a vital point of connection weekly for both our clients and volunteers, in fact it’s one of our most popular volunteering opportunities”.
Thanks also to Shoebox Creative and Rice Graphics for the fantastic design and decals.
