On March 6 we officially launched our Perth branch. We have been overwhelmed by the support of the Perth people and our new Branch Manager, Zora Harvie, pulled an enthusiast team of volunteers together in record time.
“We’ve had supporters asking us for several years when we’re coming to Perth! We knew there was a need for our service as Perth has suffered increasing homelessness with the rising cost of living due to the mining boom, said Founder and Managing Director Sarah Garnett.
Present at the opening held by Clayton Utz were representatives from City of Perth Library, UWA Press, Perth City Council, Uniting Care West, Mission Australia, Street Law Centre, as well as the Perth Footpath Library Management team.
“I was delighted to attend the opening at the beautiful Perth offices of our long time supporters Clayton Utz and to meet some of the amazing people who helped us to get over there. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the Perth community who really know how to get behind an idea and make it happen”, said Barbara McKellar, chairperson for The Footpath Library.
