Sarah Garnett
The Footpath Library’s Founder and Managing Director was a corporate communications producer for 25 years before a chance meeting with a man sleeping rough changed the course of her life and career.
Sarah has been dedicated to The Footpath Library since 2003. Sarah is passionate about encouraging literacy from an early age, making books accessible to everyone who loves reading and changing society’s perceptions of people experiencing homelessness.
Lauren Sheargold
Lauren's experience and background in both the philanthropic and mental health spaces, and her motivation to contribute strategically to the growth and impact of The Footpath Library, makes her a wonderful asset to our Board.
Lauren believes in bringing others on this journey, showing more people how incredible The Footpath Library is and how providing those experiencing homelessness with access to reading and learning not only enhances individual wellbeing but also helps to create positive change in our society as a whole.
Barbara McKellar
Barbara is a long time volunteer for The Footpath Library, and thrives on working across a range of the organisation's programs. She is an avid reader, an engaging and curious communicator, and a great believer in the power of books to inspire, enrich and change lives.
Barbara considers being a member of The Footpath Library board both an honour and an opportunity to contribute to the organisation's ongoing success.
David Anthony
David is an experienced board director and currently a partner with Corrs Chambers Westgarth where he specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration. In addition to The Footpath Library, David is a director of Operation Smile Australia and previously chair of GiveOUT (now Rainbow Giving Australia).
He is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, social justice and the value of books and reading. David is a strong believer in the power of books to create valuable social connection. David is thrilled to be part of The Footpath Library and to have the opportunity to share the joy of reading with everyone.
Raj Pillay
Raj is the General Counsel and Company Secretary of the Compensation Scheme of Last Resort. He is passionate about mental health and social change.
He is a book lover who recognises the power of storytelling and the value of reading, particularly for the younger generation. Raj is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of The Footpath Library and to help enrich the lives of those experiencing homelessness through the companionship of books.
