By choosing to include a gift to The Footpath Library in your Will –whatever its size – you can help ensure people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness have access to something many of us take for granted: the comfort, dignity and escape that comes from a good book.

Your bequest helps us provide free, high-quality books, reading glasses, and knitted essentials such as beanies, scarves, socks and blankets to those who need them most.

The Footpath Library is Australia’s only free-giving mobile library outreach service dedicated to people experiencing homelessness. Since 2007, we have gifted more than 60,000 books to men, women and children across the country – meeting people where they are, and offering connection, choice and respect through reading.

As a small, grassroots charity, we receive no government funding. Our mobile libraries are run entirely by dedicated volunteers, with books generously donated by Australian publishers. By keeping our operational costs low, we ensure that every dollar given goes directly to supporting our services and the people who rely on them.

Homelessness does not discriminate. As the cost of living rises and housing stress deepens, more Australians are being pushed into vulnerability. A bequest to The Footpath Library allows us to keep our services operating today, while also expanding into new locations so we can reach more people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

Including a bequest is simple. Your solicitor will need only our registered name – The Footpath Library Limited – and ABN 29 128 893 667. Your generosity can leave a lasting legacy, putting books into the hands of men, women and children across Australia, and reminding them that their stories matter.
